About us :The history of Cantonment started with the land administration for quartering of troops. Housing was the core objective which attracted the civilian population also to reside in the Cantonment. The Bazaar area was recognized and the Cantonment clearly defined in military, bungalow and civil area.
The total area of the Varanasi Cantt. is 1179 acres. The notified civil area extends over 29.29 acres where civilians are residing. As per 2011 census, population of the Cantonment is 14126. In accordance with Cantt. Act 2006 Varanasi Cantonment is classified as Category II .
