About ASC Ranchi :The Academic Staff College in the Ranchi University was instituted in 1988-89. The ASC now functions in the Own Building at Morabadi Campus, Ranchi University Ranchi with core – Academic Staff Consisting of a Professor who is also the Director and non-Academic Staff consisting of an Administrative Officer, a Selection Grade Assistant and a peon. Casual wage staffs are also employed according to the need. Steps are being taken to appoint a lecturer in the core Staff.
UGC-Consortium (www.csr.res.in) for Educational Communication has provided Edusat facility to Academic Staff College. Many teachers from different Departments and the participants of Refresher Courses/ Orientation Programmes are making use of this facility.

ASC is equipped with a full fledged Computer Lab. We have two AC class rooms with audio visual equipment and facilities for power point presentation. We have to conduct 19 Refresher Courses, 05 Orientation Programmes and 04 Short-Term Courses during the current financial year 2013-14.
The Academic Staff College has conducted Refresher Courses in different subjects including Hindi, Commerce, English, Chemistry, Management, Law, Education, Computer, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Geography, Political Science, Sanskrit, Human Rights, Music, Physics, IT History, Public Administration and Environmental Studies. In these courses it strived to upgrade and update the knowledge of teachers in different fields of their specialization. The contents of the courses were objectively selected to enlighten teachers about the contemporary developments in their subjects and also to provide an understanding about the emerging areas of research. During the refresher courses, the teachers also discussed the syllabi and suggested to their respective departments the stipulated changes.

The last date for receiving application form duly filled in for each programme will be 15 days in advance prior to commencement of the respective programme.
The main objective of conducting an orientation programme is to transform a teacher into a learning and creative teacher. It is possible only when the ASCs identify the relevant contents and methodology. The UGC has provided broad guidelines for the themes to be covered in orientation programmes.
